Amazed and inspired by this girl! Ale is fairly new to the NR family, but she has immediately impressed us with her dedication and can-do attitude. She just recently competed in our Heartbreaker Comp (her first comp ever!) and she was such a joy to watch - she had a smile on her face the entire time.

How long have you been at North Rim? What brought you here?

I have been coming to North Rim since June 2023, so about 7 months now! I came here looking to change my lifestyle and conveniently signed up at the same time as my friend, Alondra, so it was perfect timing for both of us to start coming together and keep each other motivated/accountable. I honestly was looking for 1 on 1 personal training and had no idea what crossfit was about, but I am so grateful to have found this gym! I wouldn't trade this experience for the world.

How has being at North Rim impacted/improved your life?

North Rim has impacted my life in the best way possible! I love this community and the welcoming atmosphere when I step into this gym. I love all the connections I have made, I look forward to working out every single week (especially looking out for the menu on Sundays.) I appreciate all the tips and support I receive from the coaches and my teammates. I have learned how to take care of my body in healthier ways and improved my own self-image. I sleep better, eat better, and most importantly I FEEL better. I've gained confidence being in my own skin and hope to stay active for however long as I can in this life.

What are you most proud of accomplishing?

I'm really proud of the strength training I have done over these few months. When I started in June, I was only using the 22lb barbell for most of my workouts, now I'm hitting triple digits for squats and deadlifts, with benching coming close at 80! I'm not afraid to add more weight and bail, because even if I fail, I will keep trying until I achieve it. An honorable mention- I asked Cherish for help on toes to rings, and when I got on I was able to do a few on my first try. I didn't know I was capable of doing these so I felt pretty accomplished afterwards!

What’s next for you (goal)?

I want to continue to grow and push myself to my full potential and not let my doubts win me over. It's been so inspiring to see so many amazing athletes working hard to qualify for NCC. I think it'd be cool to do that someday, but for now my goal is to give it my best for the Heartbreak comp! (My first comp with my gym bestie!)

Tell us a fun fact about yourself?

I took swimming classes when I was in elementary school, but I still don't know how to swim. Hahaha.

WOW Ale!! This is amazing, you are amazing.
